The Paubox Kahikina Scholarship helps Native Hawaiian students pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and Tech in general. Its purpose is to offer financial support and create a strong network for these students. The scholarship makes education more affordable and connects students with professionals, giving them valuable opportunities to learn and grow in their chosen STEM or Tech fields. This scholarship is about more than just money; it's about building a community and empowering Native Hawaiian students to succeed in STEM or Tech careers.

Almost in his final year at Harvard University, 2025 scholarship recipient Chancen Law is studying a degree in bioengineering and computer science. Here is a word from Law:
“As I prepare to enter my final, senior year at Harvard University, I have spent a lot of time reflecting on how much growth and change can happen in just one year. My junior year was one of the most meaningful years of my college experience so far. It challenged me academically, pushed me personally, and helped me gain a clearer sense of the kind of impact I hope to make in the future.
Studying bioengineering and computer science at Harvard has continued to strengthen my passion for health and innovation. Over the past year, my interests have evolved in a more personal direction through my experiences with endurance sports and entrepreneurship. My girlfriend and continued to train for Ironman triathlons together, and through that journey we became deeply interested in performance health, hydration, recovery, and how small daily habits can improve both physical and mental well being. What started as a shared passion eventually grew into something much bigger.
This past year, we founded IMPAC+ Hydration, an electrolyte company focused on creating hydration products for athletes and active individuals who care about performance, wellness, and longevity. Building a company while balancing academics has been one of the hardest but most rewarding experiences of my life. We have spent countless hours developing products, learning how to build a brand, and trying to understand how to create something that genuinely connects with people. Right now, we are excited to continue growing our social presence, refining our identity within the endurance and wellness space, and building a community around the mission of helping people perform and feel their best.
The Paubox Kahikina Scholarship has continued to play a huge role in my journey throughout this process. Beyond financial support, the mentorship and community have opened doors that would have otherwise felt impossible to access as a student founder from Hawaiʻi. Through the Kahikina network, I was fortunate to connect with founders and investors who believed in our vision early on and gave us guidance during a stage where confidence and support matter tremendously. Those conversations helped shape the way I think about leadership, business, and building something with purpose.
At the same time, my commitment to medicine has only deepened. Over the past year, I have been preparing for medical school applications, which I plan to submit this upcoming summer. My goals have become more focused as I continue exploring the intersection of health, performance, and preventive care. I hope to pursue a career in sports medicine where I can combine my interests in human physiology, movement, recovery, and long term health. As someone who has personally experienced the discipline and resilience required in endurance sports, I have become fascinated by how medicine can help people not only recover from injury but also optimize their quality of life and performance.
Growing up in Hawaiʻi taught me the importance of representing your community well and carrying a sense of responsibility for the people who helped you get where you are. No matter where my path leads, I hope to continue building things that positively impact others while staying grounded in the values I was raised with back home. The support from Paubox Kahikina has given me the confidence to pursue opportunities that once felt far beyond my reach, and I will always be grateful for the people who continue to believe in students like me.”
