HIMSS Chicago 2023: my five takeaways

Paubox team members at HIMSS Chicago 2023 conference booth

What's happening: The annual HIMSS conference is traditionally regarded as the marquee event to attend in healthcare.

Why it matters: With upstart conferences like ViVE and HLTH, the ground is shifting beneath HIMSS.

Is HIMSS still worth it?

Here are my five takeaways.

By the numbers:

  1. Foot traffic was down from last year. A majority of folks I spoke with agreed this year's HIMSS had less people than HIMSS Orlando 2022.
  2. We executed well as a team. I'm proud of our efforts here.
  3. We hosted a breakout session on Generative AI and ChatGPT. We covered AutoGPT, GPT agents in healthcare, and ended with a Turing Test. Of the seven questions we asked (Is it a bot or not?), only three were answered correctly.
  4. We booked a bigger booth for next year.
  5. HIMSS still generates ROI, so we'll keep coming back.

The bottom line: We made the most of the opportunities presented and we'll be back bigger and better for next year's HIMSS.
