Email ain't for vibe coding

Vibe coding is taking off here in Silicon Valley. Is email next?

What's happening: Andrej Karpathy coined "vibe coding" last month with this tweet

  • Andrej is an AI engineer who co-founded OpenAI.

Why it matters: The thinking goes something like this: "Why pay for an NPS survey service like Delighted when I can vibe code something similar over a weekend?"

Driving the news: My friend Sheel Mohnot sums it up nicely, "SaaS isn't dead but the build vs. buy equation is changing fast."

Email ain't for vibe coding: Thinking carefully about it, I do not think email platforms like Paubox are going to fall prey to vibe coding.

  • There's too much to build. Too many moving parts, too many bad actors to deal with, too many IP addresses to maintain in good standing, etc.
  • This is especially true for HIPAA compliant email. Even more complexity.

The bigger picture: If a SaaS product delivers all promised value within a browser, there's a good chance of disruption via vibe coding.
