Each month we share a mix of UI updates, bug fixes, and new features shipped across the Paubox platform. Have a suggestion? Let your account manager know.
New search experience across the Paubox platform
The search bars on every mail log, quarantine queue, archive, and settings list page have been rebuilt. Search now remembers your recent queries per page, so frequently used lookups are a single click away. On mail-related pages — inbound and outbound mail logs, quarantine, and Mail Archive — you also get live suggestions as you type, and you can use typed field syntax to filter immediately without scanning results manually.
- Recent search history saves whenever you commit a search (pressing Enter, clicking a result, or selecting from the dropdown) and follows you across devices. Each page maintains its own independent history.
- Live autocomplete on mail search bars shows the top five matching messages as you type.
- Typed syntax on mail search bars:
from:<query>,to:<query>, andsubject:<query>all work, as do bare keyword combinations (matching all words anywhere in the message) and quoted exact phrases. - Configuration and list pages — Rulesets, Relays, ExecProtect protected names, Senders, DLP Rules, Email API Settings and Webhooks, Paubox Forms, and Users — gain recent search history without autocomplete.
Mail Archive: Export and download results
Mail Archive can now export your search results as a downloadable file. Run any archive search, select the messages you want, and start an export. A new Exports tab tracks the status of each export and lets you click any completed one to download. The archive also added a print option in the message preview panel, and a fix for encoding issues that caused garbled characters in some subjects and message bodies.
- Select and export archive search results to a downloadable file.
- Exports tab shows the status of all active and completed exports, with click-to-download for finished ones.
- Print option added to the message preview panel.
- Fixed encoding issues that could produce garbled text in message subjects and bodies.
Paubox Forms: Redesigned from the ground up
Paubox Forms received a full interface overhaul in May. The redesign makes it easier to create forms from templates, manage their published state, track performance, and work through submissions, all from a cleaner, more consistent layout.
- A statistics summary at the top of the Forms page gives an at-a-glance view of form performance.
- A Create Form modal with grouped templates lets you start from a pre-populated layout instead of a blank slate; selecting a template pre-fills the form accordingly.
- Forms can now be saved as drafts before publishing, and published forms can be unpublished without deleting them.
- The Active tab is now split into Published and Drafts for clearer status visibility.
- Empty states with clear next steps appear when a tab has no records.
- Clicking a form row opens it for editing directly.
- The Submissions tab was updated: rows are clickable, the table is wider, and a CSV export button lets you download submission data.
Additional updates by product
Account administration
- Pages restricted by role or product are now enforced at the URL level. Typing or pasting a restricted URL redirects to an access page rather than rendering the page. The change also includes a dark mode fix and a smarter "Return to home" link that navigates to a page you can actually access.
- The Data Loss Prevention section is now visible to all customers with the DLP product. Admins always see it; non-admin users see it when they hold the DLP permission. Previously this required a feature flag.
ExecProtect+
- ExecProtect+ notifications are now an assignable permission on the Users page, replacing the separate Notifications tab in the Inbound Security toolbar. Notifications now apply across all of a customer's domains. Users who already had notifications configured were migrated to the new permission automatically.
Inbound email security
- Inbound scanning now inspects the content of publicly accessible Google Doc, Slide, and Sheet links embedded in incoming messages. When a linked document is reachable, Paubox extracts any URLs from it and analyzes them for phishing, catching threats that arrive via shared documents rather than direct links.
Email API
- Email API access is now a granular, admin-assignable permission. Admins can grant individual non-admin users access to Email API Statistics, Mail Log, Webhooks, and Settings from the Users page, without giving them an admin role. Existing admins retain their access unchanged.
Self-service signup
- International postal codes are now accepted at checkout. Customers outside the US can now complete signup, add a product, or have a partner onboard them without errors. The payment form field is now labeled "Postal code" to display correctly worldwide.
Developer documentation and CLI
- Paubox developer documentation is now hosted on Mintlify, with improved navigation, readability, and discoverability.
- Paubox Forms API endpoints are now documented at docs.paubox.com, covering the get-form and submit-form endpoints.
- The Email API Quickstart guide has been rewritten as a complete, self-contained getting-started walkthrough — no tab-switching required.
- The official Paubox CLI is now available. Install via Homebrew on macOS, or winget/npm on Windows to send HIPAA compliant email, check delivery status, and manage credentials from the terminal.
Bug fixes
- Fixed an issue where outbound emails with large attachments were deferred and not delivered.
- Fixed HTML formatting in the Secure Message Center that caused messages to display incorrectly.
- Fixed inbound security settings toggles that appeared grayed out and could not be enabled for some Paubox Email Suite Plus and Premium customers.
- Fixed a quarantine issue where clicking "Confirm" multiple times attempted to release the same message more than once, resulting in an error after the first successful release.
- Fixed a setup issue where enabling Email API from Admin Settings did not fully initialize the customer account, causing an error when adding a sender domain.
- Fixed a bug where some Paubox Email Suite customers with older accounts were redirected to the homepage when upgrading their plan with a saved payment method, before completing the payment flow.
- Email API Dynamic Templates: the API now returns a clear, structured JSON error when a request includes an invalid template name, rather than a generic server error.
