Becoming the Whole You LLC

Becoming the Whole You LLC is a private psychology practice founded by Dr. Jessica Lewis in 2024. Dr. Lewis is a licensed psychologist who specializes in trauma, individual and couples therapy, and health psychology, a holistic approach that treats the mind and body together.

She sees clients primarily through telehealth across Texas, and through PSYPACT, the interstate compact that lets licensed psychologists provide telehealth in roughly 40 member states. As a solo practitioner who collaborates closely with psychiatrists and other providers, Dr. Lewis handles a steady stream of sensitive patient information, and she wanted to be certain every piece of it was protected.

The challenge

Dr. Lewis built her practice around documentation that carries real weight. She writes letters and completes forms for Social Security, the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), VA disability, work accommodations, and emotional support animals. Much of it moves by email, and all of it contains protected health information (PHI).

From the start, she knew she needed more than a signed agreement and good intentions.

"I wanted a secure place where I could email patients certain information, whether it be for Social Security purposes, FMLA, and I wanted to make sure that I was HIPAA compliant."

She uses Google Workspace with a business associate agreement (BAA) and Google Voice line for quick scheduling texts. That covered some of her communication, but it left her uneasy about the email and documents. 

"I didn't want there to be any ifs, ands, or misinterpretations about this, especially with the type of sensitive information I'm handling."

The solution

The recommendation came from a trusted colleague. Dr. Lewis collaborates with interdisciplinary providers, and one of the psychiatrists she works with already ran his practice on Paubox.
