On Tuesday, October 27, we hosted The Paubox Table in the Fireplace Room at The Fig Tree in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Myatt Person and Katie Boyd hosted for Paubox. Six guests joined them from all corners of healthcare, from dental care to managed IT services and from counseling to hospital revenue.

What we heard

  • AI governance is still the top concern. Before a practice lets AI touch patient data, it has to decide which tools it approves and how it protects that data. If your practice is starting that work, the AMA AI governance framework is a practical place to begin.
  • Practices want to connect AI to their electronic health record (EHR) or electronic medical record (EMR) for patient communication and practice insights, but they're nervous about it. An EHR connection gives an AI tool direct access to patient records.
  • Everyone wants patient communication without extra steps like portals and two-factor authentication (2FA). Each login is one more step between the patient and the message. We compared the trade-offs in patient portals vs. email.
  • Several guests asked for Paubox to connect directly to their voice over IP (VoIP) phone system, so each call ends with a written follow-up message to the patient.
