If you know Paubox, you know that we like to give away spam musubi when we reach milestones in the business. Our upcoming Paubox SECURE conference will be no different. If you are one of the first 100 attendees to Paubox SECURE, you will be rewarded with a tasty, fresh, spam musubi. On the house. Gratis. Free. Ono!

If you're new to Paubox and our spam musubi ways, here's more context.

Mahalo to the Mission: 100 spam musubi and 100 pairs of socks

Mahalo to the Mission: 100 spam musubi and 100 pairs of socks - Paubox

When we reached 100 customers back in 2015, we decided the best way to show thanks to our new home of San Francisco was to give away 100 spam musubi and 100 pairs of socks at a BART stop outside our office. As it turned out, this would be the first and last time we made the spam musubi ourselves (HINT: You need a lot of rice cookers). This was a particularly satisfying event for me. I think doing things for people who can never repay you is a moment to cherish. How often in life do we get to do that?

500 Startups and 500 Free Spam Musubi

When we got in 500 Startups back in 2016, we entered the accelerator program with about 500 customers. We figured this was another good time to hand out free spam musubi. This time, we handed out 500 free spam musubi on Market Street. Since there was more foot traffic than our old office in the Mission district, all 500 of them were handed out in less than an hour. Our efforts caught the eye of Governor Ige back home in Hawaii:

We even made the news :-)

1000 Free Spam Musubi: Mahalo to SF and Mayor Ed Lee

When we reached 1,000 customers back in December of 2017, we figured it was again time to give thanks to San Francisco. With the untimely passing of San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee, we decided to use the occasion to make a $500 donation to one of his favorite charities, Project Homeless Connect. Using a new technique of giving out two at a time, we optimized our efforts and gave away all one thousand spam musubi in under an hour.
