Highlights from day two

To Care is Human – Live!
The day kicked off with a special live recording of To Care is Human, hosted by Jason Wolf in conversation with Dr. Owais Durrani. Their discussion covered Dr. Durrani’s personal journey in healthcare, the evolving role of AI, and why equitable care must remain a priority. One standout theme: the need for ethical, human-centered applications of technology to enhance—not replace—the care experience.

Pecha Kucha: 20x20 Vision
In one of the most engaging formats of the conference, six leaders each delivered their vision for change in just 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds. The rapid-fire storytelling led to powerful takeaways on how we lead, innovate, and stay grounded in purpose.

Celebrating the Champions of Experience
A big part of day two was recognizing those who are shaping the future of healthcare experience:

• Wendy Leebov Championing Experience Award went to Anne Marie Hadley for her remarkable contributions in creating meaningful human connections in care.

• Patient Experience Journal Awards honored articles that are pushing the field forward:

  • Most Impactful Article: “Nursing leadership during COVID-19: Enhancing patient, family and workforce experience”

  • Article of the Year: “Is Timing Everything? The Role of Time on the Relationship between Patient-Centered Communication and Provider Empathy”

  • Best Article – Practitioner: “Primary Care Productivity and Patient Satisfaction Community Practice: What is the Relationship?”

  • Best Article – Emerging Scholar: “Patients’ Perceptions of Interprofessional Collaboration: A Scoping Review”

• Ruth Ravich Patient Advocacy Award was presented to Tyler Gegen, CPXP, recognizing his leadership and service to the patient advocacy community.

• Volunteer Professionals Award for Excellence went to Linda Van Fulpen, CAVS, for her exceptional commitment to volunteer management in healthcare.

• DAISY Nurse Leader Award for Experience Champions was awarded to Laura J. Wood, DNP, highlighting the essential role nurse leaders play in shaping compassionate care environments.

PX Party
The day wrapped up with a well-earned celebration—networking, food, and Vegas-themed fun. It was a chance to unwind, reflect, and reconnect with peers who share a common passion.
