What's happening: To celebrate our 5,001st customer, we reached out to them and donated $5,001 to the charity of their choice.
Tell me more: Our 5,001st customer, Duran Therapy, is a licensed marriage and family therapy business in Redondo Beach, CA. Its owner, Haylee Duran, has 12 years' experience providing therapeutic services.
Who got the donation?: Haylee chose the Tunnel to Towers Foundation as her charity of choice.
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is a non-profit charity founded in tribute to New York Fire Department firefighter Stephen Siller, who died during the September 11 attacks.
How it went down: I hopped on a plane from San Francisco to Los Angeles. From there it was a short jaunt to Redondo Beach.
I arrived with an oversize check and a camera crew to Haylee's office on a recent Friday morning.
We did an interview together, put together a video clip, then reunited later that night for a group dinner at The Rex Steakhouse.
Why it matters: We've passed out 100 spam musubi and 100 pairs of socks to celebrate our first 100 customers. We've also given away 1,000 spam musubi when we crossed 1,000 customers. Celebrating milestones by giving back is how we like to operate.
The bottom line: The leader always gives back.
