The Paubox Kahikina Scholarship helps Native Hawaiian students pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and Tech in general. Its purpose is to offer financial support and create a strong network for these students. The scholarship makes education more affordable and connects students with professionals, giving them valuable opportunities to learn and grow in their chosen STEM or Tech fields. This scholarship is about more than just money; it's about building a community and empowering Native Hawaiian students to succeed in STEM or Tech careers.

As a 2025 scholarship recipient Chancen Law is in his junior year at Harvard College, majoring in bioengineering and computer science with a statistics minor. Here is a word from Chancen:
“As I prepare to enter my junior year at Harvard College, I’ve taken time to reflect on the experiences and mentors who have shaped my journey in higher education. Majoring in bioengineering and computer science with a statistics minor, I’ve found myself at the intersection of disciplines that fuel my passion: using science, data, and innovation to improve human health and extend quality of life.
Growing up in Hawaiʻi, I was raised with a strong sense of kūleana to uplift the Hawaiʻi community and be a good role model for younger generations. These drives guide me through every opportunity I pursue, especially in the field of longevity and health.
Over the past year, I’ve immersed myself in the aging and longevity field through the Aging Initiative at Harvard, an interdisciplinary undergraduate-led non-profit aimed at promoting aging awareness, education, and innovation to spark real-world impacts in the field. As one of the first board members of the Aging Initiative, I’ve led collaborative projects that use machine learning to analyze aging biomarkers and develop tools that make aging data more accessible and actionable for researchers and clinicians. I’ve also helped organize speaker events, mixers, and conferences with renowned experts in the field to provide education and networking opportunities for students and aging-enthusiasts alike.
I further explored my passion in this space as an intern at Alpine Institute, a longevity diagnostics company. There, I help contribute to personalized health platforms that integrate biomarker analysis and AI-driven insights to better monitor and improve aging in real-time.
I’ve also had the opportunity to continue pursuing my passion for research through my work at the University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center, where I currently study genetic differences in the development of various cancers and chronic diseases. This experience has deepened my understanding of how research can uncover critical insights into human health. It has also solidified my commitment to bridging the gap between scientific discovery and real-world medical outcomes.
Looking ahead, I hope to pursue an MD/PhD, so I can work at the intersection of medicine and science — translating discoveries from the lab into the clinic and directly improving patient care. I’m also deeply interested in entrepreneurship in the health space, where I can help bring research-driven solutions to the public at scale. Whether it’s through diagnostics, digital health, or preventive care, I want to be part of the movement shaping a healthier, longer-lived future for all.
None of this would be possible without the support of the Paubox Kahikina Scholarship. Your belief in Native Hawaiian students like me empowers us to dream bigger, work harder, and carry our kūleana forward into the world. I’m deeply grateful for your support — and I hope to honor it by giving back through my work in health, longevity, and service.”
