A word from one of this year's recipients, Ariell Siliado. Ariell will attend the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo and study biology.

Ariell Saliado: Aloha, nice to meet you. My name is Ariell Siliado and I'm one of the 2021 Paubox Kahikina STEM scholarship recipients. In less than two weeks, I'll be starting my freshman year at the University of Hawaii at Hilo with the goal of receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biology. My career goal is to become an obstetrician and gynecologist on my home island of Kauai. When I first started my scholarship search, the Paubox scholarship really stood out to me because it encourages Native Hawaiian teens to pursue careers specific to science, technology, engineering and math. The scholarship is $1,000 and reoccurring for up to five years. The Paubox scholarship doesn't just offer financial support as well. They currently have a network for students interested in software engineering and are working to expand their network to employees of all STEM fields. They also provide guidance when it comes to future internships and job placement. I personally feel that there are very few Native Hawaiians with a STEM career. So if you are a native Hawaiian high school senior or a college student with some related major, I sincerely recommend this scholarship for you. Aloha and have a wonderful day.
