Diversity in health technology workshop - Health 2.0 Annual Fall Conference 2016

Written by Hoala Greevy | March 15, 2017

Last fall I attended the Health 2.0 10th Annual Fall Conference in Santa Clara. I was sick as a dog and attended only one workshop: Diversity in Health Technology Workshop. The Diversity in Health Technology Workshop focused on increasing diversity in health technology via entrepreneurs. With support by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, it also focused on enabling inclusive health technology innovation.

Diversity in Health Technology Workshop Format

The workshop was an open forum to discuss the need for more inclusive technologies that met the health needs of underserved communities. There was also some discussion from how to increase the diversity of people working in health technology. Diversity in technology is a big problem in general. Case in point: As far as I know, there are only four tech companies on the planet with Native Hawaiian tech CEO's and I am proud to be one of them.

Diversity in Health Technology Workshop Q&A

My head was spinning by the time the formal presentation ended and Q&A began. From what I can remember, most of the questions involved entrepreneurs asking the panel how they could do business with their organizations. After the workshop was pau (finished), I quietly left and drove back home to rest. I wish I would have been in better shape to enjoy the rest of the conference.
